How to get more serenity in your life

In our fast-paced world, finding serenity might feel like chasing a distant dream. With the constant flow of information, the demands of modern life, and the technology zooming at the speed of light, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and out of touch with our inner calm.

If that's you, have I got a treat for you!

But here's the thing: serenity is not impossible to achieve. It's a state of mind that we can work on and a journey that doesn't end overnight.

So, I want to share some techniques that have helped me over the years, and I hope they can help you, too!

1. Try the 5-Senses Grounding Technique

When life gets too busy and your mind is all over the place, this technique can help you find your balance. Find a quiet spot and go through these steps:

  • Look at FIVE things you see around you.

  • Touch FOUR things you can reach.

  • Listen to THREE things you can hear.

  • Smell TWO things you can smell.

  • Taste ONE thing you can taste.

As you do each step, focus on the sensations, colors, smells, or whatever you're experiencing. What do you see and feel, and how does each sensation affect you? Don't rush to the next step--take your time! By the end of this exercise, you'll feel more relaxed and centered.

2. Share Life with Peeps

If you spend most of your days alone, you'll understand the feeling of being alone. I work from home, and since I'm a people person, I thrive when I regularly connect with friends--it helps me stay more balanced. Even sharing exciting moments with your friends can be a mood booster for both of you!

3. Give Journaling a Shot

I've been journaling since my late twenties, and it's been a lifesaver. If you have tons of thoughts swirling around in your brain, writing them down can be a great way to make sense of things. Studies show journaling can help with stress, clarify thoughts, and solve problems.

One thing that works best for me is writing prayers to God. I spill out my thoughts on paper. It's so therapeutic! If that's not something you feel comfortable doing, no worries. There's no right or wrong way. Just write down what's on your mind and keep going!

If you try these techniques, you'll find yourself more calm and balanced in your life. And if you do, I'd love to hear how it's working for you! Feel free to leave a comment below.

Remember, serenity isn't a distant dream--it's a journey you can embrace and enjoy.
